New Collection Release
Often, my pieces convey a certain memory for me, or remind me of a time and place.
These new works that I’ve kept referring to as “Littles” were drawn up shortly after I moved to Montreal and at the start of the New Year (2022). My signature simplified shapes in charcoal grey with bold bursts of surrounding color, evocative of the fun and excitement I was feeling as I navigated my way around this new city, and the pleasure I had exploring new things for the first time in a long time. Maybe they were a premonition of what was to come of me, or come for me here in this city. A rebirth or a restart perhaps. A life, a new life resurrected, with its foundations being built into the person who I was to become here. Reminding me of the connection I have with the city, the energy of the city that fulfills me, and the great wonder and anticipation I always find within myself at the center of it all.
Reminding me of the connection I have to the energy of the city and how that fulfills me, and the great wonder and anticipation I always find within myself at the center of it all.
Something I wrote shortly after moving that I always come back to is this...
I’ve always loved the energy of the city.
Long, dark alleyways that feel like secrets.
Little nooks and crannies filled with undeniable energy and promises.
And the way I feel at the center of it all – connected to all of this energy – soaking it up and feeling it deep down in my bones as a place that I feel I belong in.
