About — Tanya Pavan

About Tanya:

Tanya Pavan is a Canadian fiber & textile artist, who lives and works in Montreal, Quebec.

Tanya Pavan is an award-winning fiber and textile artist based in Montreal, Canada.

Drawing on the inspiration of her childhood spent in her grandmother’s sewing studio, Tanya uses wool and embroidery thread on canvas to create vibrant and playful hand-sewn pieces.

Her work is best known for its abstract minimalism and bold use of colour, which leap unselfconsciously across the canvas, capturing her images’ dynamic energy rooted in ritual and process, while exploring the concepts of identity, memory, childhood, and play.

Tanya’s work has been featured in British Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, The World of Interiors, and in public collaboration with Spotify, among others. Along with exhibiting her work in Montreal, Canada, her pieces are also held in private collections internationally.

Tanya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Brock University and is currently working toward her B.F.A. in Fiber and Material Practices at Concordia University.

Further information on her process and work can be found on Instagram @tanya.pavan, and you can access her CV, media and press coverage here.
