2024
As an artist, with a day job, and a giant needy dog, I’ve come to negotiate my time purposefully and intentionally.
Because how I spend my time is the one thing I can control/the one thing I do have control over.
Being an artist, for me at least, means that my mind needs time and space to process things - things going on in my life, and things so that my creative self can conjure up new ideas and new directions to take my artistic practice.
Without that time and space, nothing gets created.
That time and space feels like a breath - slowly and surely inhaled and exhaled, and grounded within oneself. To quiet the mind of all the outside or external things that try and tear it away from the utmost present moment.
And without this breath, without this time and space my artistic self does not exist. I cannot hear her over the din of the chatter of everything else “I should be paying attention to…”
That’s why, this collection (and every collection) is so important to me, and holds such space in my heart.
Because it means, I gave myself over to the time and space and breath it takes, or took, to get quiet enough to ask my small self, “what next?”
And to be cognizant and aware enough to tune in to all the things around myself that give me life and energy, in whatever season of life I am in.
And so as this new collection comes to life (so much more slowly than I had wanted it to ) I’m so excited to begin sharing the small parts of it.
In hopes that wherever you are in life - and whichever season you find yourself in, that you can also find that breath, and that time and space within yourself. To connect again to the joy and awe of your own grounded and quiet energy and within the present moment.
Letting you taste your own present moment/quietness.
